PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotary operation type input device suitable for size reduction and capable of obtaining stable detection signals. SOLUTION: Finger hooking serrations 5 are inscribed on the outer peripheral surface of a controller 3 to be rotated by the fingers or the like of an operator. Each protrusion 5a of the serrations 5 is formed of a plastic magnet (magnetic substance), and a magnetoresistive element (magnetic sensor) 9 is provided opposite at the tip of each protrusion 5a via a fine gap G.
