VARIABLE VALVE GEAR FOR INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce diameter of a control shaft in a variable valve gear. SOLUTION: In the variable valve gear having a slider gear and an arm assembly which consists of an input arm and an output arm provided on the control shaft in such a manner that the same can rock arranged for each cylinder and changing valve characteristics of an engine valve (intake valve 21) by changing relative phase difference of the input arm and the output arm of the arm assembly by displacement of the slider gear interlocking with the control shaft, the control shaft 32 is divided for each cylinder 12 (#1-#4) and the control shaft is composed of a plurality of divided shafts 321-324. Since torsional force is not applied on the control shaft at a time of lift of each cylinder by dividing the control shaft in such a manner, diameter of each divided control shaft 321-324 can be reduced and cost can be reduced.
