Method for using security tokens

The method involves bringing a safety token in a data communication connection with a reading device (1). The reading device is located in the data communication connection with a computer (3). A virtual machine (6) is temporarily installed on the computer. The virtual machine has a virtual operating system. An identification or an authentication code is entered over a peripheral device of the computer and afterwards a data exchange between the safety token and the virtual operating system takes place.
