<p>The device (52) has a board cleat (72) including a thickness, and an upper surface providing a reception zone for receiving a shoe retaining element and an inner surface. A flat longitudinal stiffener is located below the board cleat and including a thickness that is lesser than the thickness of the cleat. The retaining element slides over rear and front rails (28, 29) of the cleat. The stiffener includes a flat portion which is sandwiched between the cleat and the upper surface, where the flat portion is parallel to the upper surface.
