1,125,520. Removing 1,3-cyclopentadiene from hydrocarbons. GOODYEAR TIRE & RUBBER CO. 2 May, 1967 [21 June, 1966], No. 20257/67. Heading C5E. 1,3-Cyclopentadiene is removed from hydrocarbons by treatment with one or more oxides of copper or chromium. Examples of impure hydrocarbons include alkanes, alkenes, benzene, toluene, diolefins such as isoprene, and butadiene, and petroleum or coal tar distillates of b.p. - 10‹ to 150‹ C. The cyclopentadiene content may be reduced by the process of the invention to 0À1 ppm. The copper and/or chromium oxides may be supported on an inert carrier and the process carried out at 0‹ to 200‹ C., preferably in the gaseous state. |
