The invention concerns a built-in electric kitchen oven with a front door that slides horizontally, completely recessed within the muffle, and wherein the front outer surface of said door is flush with or slightly set back with respect to the front edges of the muffle itself. Said door is suited for the application of at least one removable covering panel, and the overall depth of said oven is such that the outer surface of said covering panel is flush with or slightly set back with respect to the outer surface of the adjacent kitchen units. The new oven comprises at least one remote control device with an emitter of radio waves, infrared rays or other remote communication signals, for switching the oven on/off and/or for adjusting all or part of the operation parameters of the oven itself.
