<p>Monitoring an induction furnace, comprising an induction coil (4) surrounded by spring-loaded yokes, with insulation between the coil and yokes, comprises independently determining the insulation status of each yoke in relation to the coil and/or earth and locating any existing or incipient defects in the insulation. An independent claim is also included for an induction furnace as above where each yoke (5) is equipped with a sensor (10) for detecting a change in the resistance of the coil-yoke insulation (9) in the vicinity of each individual yoke and/or the leakage current between each individual yoke and earth.</p> |
