[Also in Division H1] A gauge device for accurately mounting a V- shaped strip cathode 816 on the bevelled end of a cathode holder 802 comprises a mounting body 803 for the cathode holder and a profiled projection 810 for the cathode located at the end of a cantilever arm 805 which is displaceable between two stops 807, 808. When the cathode 816 is fitted into a shallow groove in the projection 810 it is held by the pressure of a spring biased lever 812 and clamped to the holder 802 by means of screws 818. A resiliently displaceable push-button 820 is provided for lifting the cathode holder 802. The cathode may be formed and located simultaneously. The cathode may be inserted between raised portions or in shallow grooves formed in the bevelled end surfaces of the cathode holder. |
