<p>Apparatus and methods are discussed for constructing a valve (12,14) comprising a sealing member (34) and a hollow ball (32) operable to sealingly engage the sealing member (34). A guide housing (38) is disposed about the hollow ball (32) and does not constrain rotation of the hollow ball (32). A spring (36) is disposed between the hollow ball (32) and the guide housing (38) so as to bias the hollow ball (32) into sealing engagement with the sealing member (34). The hollow ball (32) is constructed from two unequal sized portions (62,64) and may comprise a hollow, spherical body (62) having an aperture (68) and a plug (64) sized so as to closely fit within the aperture (68).</p> |
