Heading C2C. 2-Amino-5-nitrothiazole is prepared by rearrangement of 2-aminothiazole nitrate by treatment with concentrated sulphuric acid at a temperature not exceeding 35‹ C., preferably at 20-25‹ C. 2-Aminothiazole nitrate may be prepared by treating a readily water-soluble salt of 2-aminothiazole with aqueous nitric acid.
