[Also in Division F4] In a machine for producing ice cream or a slush ice beverage in which the product is frozen in an externally cooled cylinder 12 whose internal surface is scraped by two blades 23, the refrigeration system 21 providing the cooling is controlled by a viscosity senser comprising five L-shaped fingers 25 secured to a shaft 27 which, through an arm 37 and a spring biassed pivoted link 40, operates a refrigeration system switch 43. The shaft 27 is mounted in a sleeve 51 carried by a face plate 15 which closes one end of the cylinder 12. In order to ensure torque transmission to the product in the region of the viscosity senser, the scraper assembly carries a U-shaped member 48, and an elongated member 50 is pivoted on the sleeve 51 to be rotated by the engagement of its ends 52 with the scraper blades 23. The member 50 carries a projection 53 to clear any accumulation of ice crystals from the inlet 19 of a dispensing valve 18. A valve 56 is provided to release trapped air from the cylinder when the latter is first filled with product to be frozen.</p> |
