The invention relates to a device for testing ferromagnetic component walls, such as pipe or plate walls, for cracks or other such elongated defects, withoutdestroying the same, by means of ultrasound waves, especially shear waves, thatare excited in a wall region magnetised in a pre-determined magnet directionby a high-frequency induction coil, are diffused on a strip that can be alignedwith the induction coil embodied as an emitting transducer, and are receivedat a distance from the emitting transducer by means of at least one induction coilembodied as a receiving transducer. Said device is embodied in such a way thatdefects of a pre-defined shape, especially cracks caused by stress-crack corrosion, are easy to detect, without an unreasonable increase in the structural complexityand the energy requirements of the device.
|
