A method and an apparatus for controlling a step motor are provided to control the driving of the step motor in accelerating and decelerating periods by generating driving phases whenever an interrupt is generated during the accelerating and decelerating periods. An apparatus for controlling a step motor includes a step motor(400), an IC(200), a controller(100), a first controller(110), and a second controller(120). The first and second controllers are integrated with the controller. The controller controls the IC. The IC drives the step motor. The first controller controls an overall system. The second controller stores a program for controlling the step motor. The second controller generates a driving phase for the step motor. The second controller generates the driving phase, whenever an interrupt is generated during accelerating and decelerating periods of the step motor. The second controller periodically generates the driving phase without the interrupt during a constant speed period of the step motor. |
