<p>The juice is forced through a membrane filter and the aqueous salt solution is removed as a permeate (7) and dewatered juice is collected as a retentate. A method for removing unwanted salts and/or ions from vegetable juices such as beetroot juice comprises forcing the juice through a membrane filter under pressure so that an aqueous salt and/or ion solution is removed as a permeate and dewatered juice is collected as a retentate. An independent claim is also included for the process apparatus, comprising a first storage tank (5) for the juice; a dewatering installation (6) with membrane filter elements and an outlet for the salt/ion solution; a high-pressure pump with a suction line connected to the first tank and a pressure line connected to a dewatering installation; and a second storage tank (8) for the dewatered juice, connected to the dewatering installation.</p> |
