A retractable photographing lens is provided to occupy a small space while the photographing lens is completely inserted to the inside. A retractable photographing lens(11) having a photographing optical system comprises plural optical elements(LG1~LG4) having at least two radially retreating optical elements. During photographing, plural optical elements are aligned along an optical axis(ZP). If the retractable photographing lens moves from a photographing state to a complete receiving state, two radially retreating optical elements of plural optical elements is moved back to each radial retreat position in a radial direction and separated in different radial directions from the optical axis. Two radially retreating optical elements are moved back along the optical axis and positioned adjacently to each other within a plane crossing the optical axis.
