A paper feeding device of an image forming apparatus is provided to automatically move a guide member at an accurate position regardless of size of a printing medium by using a driving unit and a sensing unit. Guide members(210,220) align printing media loaded on a paper feeding unit. A driving unit moves the guide members(210,220) to bring the guide members(210,220) into contact with edge portions of the printing media, thereby aligning various sizes of printing media. A sensing unit senses the positions of the guide members(210,220). A controller(280) generates a control signal for operating the driving unit. When the positions of the guide members(210,220) are not changed during operation of the driving unit, the controller(280) stops the operation of the driving unit and calculates the size of the printing medium.
