A complex cathode active material for lithium secondary battery is provided to prevent structural degradation of LiCoO2 during recharging/discharging and direct contact between the active material and electrolyte by comprising lithium cobalt oxide(LiCoO2) coated with MEH-PPV(polyphenylenevinylene) as a chemically stable polymer. A complex cathode active material is prepared by a method comprising the steps of: preparing 0.1-0.5wt% of MEH-PPV solution by dissolving MEH-PPV in an organic solvent(S1); adding LiCoO2 to the MEF-PPV solution, agitating and drying the solution(S2); and calcining the dried LiCoO2 at 400 to 470deg.C for 1 to 2 hours under nitrogen or argon atmosphere(S3) to leave only PPV on surface of LiCoO2. The MEH-PPV does not undergo dopant-treatment. The agitating step is conducted with agitation speed of 300 to 500rpm at 20 to 30deg.C. |
