PURPOSE: A direct estimation method in case of frame B coding using a plurality of reference frames is provided to refer the number of reference frames of each macro block in the direct estimating mode of frames B, thereby precisely estimating the macroblock in every direction. CONSTITUTION: A direct estimation method in case of frame B coding using a plurality of reference frames includes the steps of setting a predetermined area to a buffering area by software in a memory incorporated in a decoder, storing the numbers of reference frames of each macro block when decoding frames P, and estimating the number of the reference frames stored in the buffering area in the direct estimation mode of frames B. |
