FIELD: torsional vibration damping; turbochargers. ^ SUBSTANCE: proposed gas-turbocharger incorporating high-speed rotor assembly has turbocharger shaft, turbine wheel rigidly coupled with shaft, and compressor wheel rigidly coupled with shaft. Gas-turbocharger is designed for coupling with internal-combustion engine. Rotor assembly is actuated by internal-combustion engine exhaust gases. Gas-turbocharger also has means for damping torsional vibrations of its shaft exited by higher-order pressure fluctuations of internal-combustion engine when the latter is coupled with turbocharger; vibration damping means incorporate shaft-mounted torsional vibration damper. ^ EFFECT: enhanced reliability of turbochargers. ^ 12 cl, 4 dwg |
