The invention provides a system (20) for temporary storage of goods (23), in particular pieces of luggage. The system comprises a number of rows of racks (21) extending parallel to each other, each rack (21) comprising storage positions (22) located beside and above each other on both longitudinal sides of at least some of the individual racks, lifts (27) being movable along paths of movements (26) both for delivering goods to storage positions (22) of the respective adjacent racks from said longitudinal sides and collecting goods from said storage positions, supply stations (24) and discharge stations (25) disposed between paths of movement of adjacent lifts for supplying goods (23) to and collecting goods from said lifts, respectively, a supply conveyor system for supplying goods to the supply stations and a discharge conveyor system for discharging goods from the discharge stations. The supply conveyor system and the discharge conveyor system comprise a common conveyor with supply conveyor branches (29) from the common conveyor to supply stations and discharge conveyor branches from discharge stations to the common conveyor (28). |
