The cushion consists of padding (6) designed to provide a seated occupant with postural support, and a covering layer (5) with surface trim, all of which are air-permeable. The covering layer's permeability is in a ratio of between 0.5 and 2 : 1 to that of the padding, and the covering layer has a foam backing (7) with a permeability ratio of between 0.1 and 0.8 : 1 compared to the padding. A variant has a barrier layer and a layer of dense foam between the backing and main padding layers which have a relative permeability ratio of between 10 and 100 : 1.
