COOLING SYSTEM PROTECTING APPARATUS AND METHOD USING TEMPERATURE OF SUCTION PIPE

A device and a method for protecting a cooling system according to suction pipe temperature are provided to sense suction pipe temperature for stopping operation of a compressor as the temperature reaches a driving-stopping temperature, thereby protecting the cooling system. A device for protecting a cooling system according to suction pipe temperature comprises a suction temperature sensor(20) mounted to a suction pipe for sensing temperature thereof, and a microcomputer(30) for stopping operation of a compressor(40). The microcomputer counts time from when the sensed suction pipe temperature reaches a driving-stopping temperature, so that the microcomputer stops operation of the compressor when the counted time exceeds a preset driving-stopping time.
