<p>The actuator (14) for this mechanism (13) is mounted on a support bar (30), which in turn is secured to the trailer towbars (32) by U-bolts (31). The mechanism is connected to a transmission (8), which in turn is linked to the trailer brakes (5). The actuator applies a braking force to the transmission in response to a voltage across clamps associated with the brake lights of the towing vehicle. An independent claim is also included for a trailer with this brake operating mechanism, in which the support beam is secured to a V-shaped towbar arrangement.</p> |
