[Also in Division C3] An automobile polish comprises wax and the reaction product of an OH-terminated polydimethylsiloxane (e.g. of viscosity 10 to 15,000 cs. at 25‹ C.) and a silane having the formula in which R is a C 3-4 divalent hydrocarbon radical free from ethylenic unsaturation, R<SP>1</SP> is a C 1-4 alkyl radical, R<SP>11</SP> is a C 1-6 saturated hydrocarbon radical, R<SP>111</SP> is H or Me and n is 0, 1 or 2. The weight ratio of siloxane to silane is from 1: 1 to 20: 1. The polish may be formulated as an aerosol comprising a propellant, e.g. 15% of trichloromonofluoromethane, 35% of dichlorofluoromethane, and 50% of the wax composition. Examples of polish compositions are: (1) 92À5% by wt. of naphtha solvent, 5% Stoddard solvent, 1% of microcrystalline wax and 1À5% of the reaction product of OH terminated polydimethylsiloxane of viscosity 40 cs. at 25‹ C. and (CH 3 O) 3 Si(CH 2 )NHCH 2 CH 2 NH 2 (siloxane: silane ratio 2: 1 by weight). (2) 52 parts by wt. of water, 14À0 parts of diatomaceous earth, 2À0 parts of soya lecithin, 22À5 parts of naphtha mineral spirits, 12À5 parts of kerosene, 8À0 parts carnauba wax, 2À4 parts of polyoxyethylene sorbitan mono-oleate, 2À0 parts of fatty alcohol amine sulphate and 6À0 parts of the siloxane product of Example 1. (3) 86À0% by wt. Stoddard solvent, 8% carnauba wax, 2À0% microcrystalline wax and 4% of the siloxane product of Example 1. (4) 60% mineral spirits, 5À8% kerosene, 8À5% carnauba wax, 8À6% ozocerite wax, 8À5% diatomaceous earth and 8À6% of the above siloxane reaction product. Other silanes corresponding to the above formula are also used in reaction with the dimethyl organo polysiloxane, e.g.
