An ink-jet apparatus and a method for controlling the same are provided to minimize pollution due to ink by preventing the ink from being jetted out of the opening unit. An ink-jet apparatus(1) includes a stage, a mask(20), a nozzle head, first and second drive units(13a,13b,25), and a control unit. A substrate is installed inside of the stage. The mask is positioned on a top of the stage to have a plurality of opening units(21). The nozzle head is positioned on a top of the mask to have a nozzle for discharging ink. The first and second drive units drive each of the mask and the stage. The control unit controls the first and second drive units. The stage is connected to the first drive unit through rotation screws(12a,12b).
