Provided is a detergent composition for laundry which is excellent in antibacterial effect and sterilizing effect, is free from the migration of clothes and does not harm human beings. The detergent composition comprises a porous particle of an essential oil of Chamaecyparis obtusa as an effective component. Preferably the detergent composition comprises 1-50 parts by weight of a porous particle of an essential oil of Chamaecyparis obtusa; 10-40 parts by weight of a surfactant mixture which comprises a nonionic surfactant and an anionic surfactant; and 10-70 parts by weight of an alkali builder. Preferably the porous particle of an essential oil of Chamaecyparis obtusa is prepared by mixing an essential oil of Chamaecyparis obtusa and an alcohol, and mixing the obtained mixture solution with a porous particle. |
