<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a driving apparatus capable of efficient driving, without causing vibration displacement of direction that does not contribute to driving. <P>SOLUTION: A vibrating actuator is provided with a vibrator 1, consisting of an elastic body 2 and a piezoelectric element 3 and having a contacting portion 4. For the vibrator 1, a vibration displacement Wy by a longitudinal vibration primary mode and a vibration displacement Wz by a curved vibration primary mode are generated so that the time-related phase difference is 90 degrees, and elliptic movement or circular movement is formed around an X-axis on both the contacting portions 4 of the vibrator 1. Along with this, both the contacting bodies 5 perform a rotating movement having the rotating shaft in the same direction so that the movement may be clockwise in the one contacting portion 4 of the vibrator 1 and counterclockwise in the other contacting portion 4 of the vibrator 1. In this case, if a vibration displacement Wy' is generated by the longitudinal secondary mode in place of the vibration displacement Wy by the longitudinal primary mode, the rotating directions both the contacting bodies 5 match with each other. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
