PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic EL device and a display device which both have a long service life. SOLUTION: The organic EL device 10 is quipped with light emitting layers 26R, 26G, and 26B; the light emitting layers 26R, 26G, and 26B are varied in the amount of luminescent materials as doping materials in the perpendicular directions of the light emitting layers 26R, 26G, and 26B, and the luminescent materials serving as doping materials for the layers 26R, 26G, and 26B are set so as to become maximal in amount at the maximum emission position at which holes and electrons become maximal in density in the perpendicular directions of the light emitting layers 26R, 26G, and 26B.
