PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a memory which can be connected to a controller device in which the number of pins is reduced to reduce packaging area, defective packaging, and the cost. SOLUTION: The device is a semiconductor memory device which can be connected to the controller device in which the number of pins of n pieces supplying n signals is reduced to m, the semiconductor memory device is provided with at least one converting circuit generating n signals by inputting m signal lines and developing then, and n signals from the converting circuit are supplied to the inside of the semiconductor memory device. The semiconductor memory device is provided with n input pins and a pin inputting a switching signal and a switching circuit for controlling so that when the switching signal indicates a first logic value, m signals lines are supplied to the converting circuit, n signals from the converting circuit are supplied to the inside of the memory, residual pins out of n pins are made non-connection pins, and in a configuration in which the switching signal indicates a second logic value, the n signal lines are supplied directly to the inside of the memory without passing through the converting circuit.
