PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a block for lightweight banking and a lightweight banking method capable of suppressing the collapse of a slope by suppressing the rupture of a molded bank by the irregular movements of foam polystyrene blocks. SOLUTION: A foam polystyrene layer formed integrally by horizontally connecting the blocks 10 for lightweight banking each having a vertically passing recess or hollow and having a fitting projecting part 14 on one of each of two pairs of opposed side faces and a fitting recess 15 on the other is formed on the block body of rectangular parallelepiped made of a foam resin. The foam polystyrene layers are laminated to form a bank. Slide prevention plates connected to the ends of the blocks 10 are installed in a plurality of steps on a slope at predetermined vertical intervals so that soil layers are interposed therebetween to reinforce the strength of the slope.
