PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tonneau cover device capable of smoothly performing opening/closing without interfering with a peripheral edge of an opening of a rear surface of a vehicle body in opening/closing of a back door and certainly covering a baggage in a baggage compartment when the back door is closed. SOLUTION: In the tonneau cover device, a cover body portion 13 of a tonneau cover member 12 is constituted by a material in which width of an intermediate part in a longitudinal direction is contracted in a vehicle width direction by pulling in the longitudinal direction, and is constituted such that the tonneau cover member 12 is horizontally developed and a dimension in the vehicle width direction of the cover body portion 13 is lengthened more than a dimension in the vehicle width direction of an upper part of the opening 2 of the rear surface of the vehicle body when the back door is in the closed state. When the back door 3 is in the opened state, it is constituted such that the cover body portion 13 is pulled in the longitudinal direction, width of the intermediate part in the longitudinal direction is reduced in the vehicle width direction and the cover body portion 13 is not interfered with a rear part pillar 7 of the opening 2 of the rear surface of the vehicle body.
