<p>It is intended to provide a process whereby poly-?-glutamic acid having a high L-glutamic acid content and excellent qualities can be efficiently produced. Namely, a process for producing poly-?-glutamic acid characterized by comprising using a bacterium belonging to the species Bacillus megaterium.</p>
