PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress delay of an image read time caused by a vertical transfer period. SOLUTION: An imaging apparatus of the present invention comprises a plurality of pixel parts, a vertical transfer part, a first holding part, a second holding part, and a horizontal transfer part. The plurality of pixel parts are arrayed on a light receiving plane, photoelectric conversion is applied to received light flux for each pixel, and a pixel output is outputted. The vertical transfer part vertically transfers the pixel outputs of the plurality of pixel parts. The first holding part and the second holding part alternately hold the vertically transferred pixel outputs.
