1,013,073. Percussive drills. ATLAS COPCO A.B. July 7, 1964 [July 10, 1963], No. 27946/64. Heading B4C. A centralizer and device for coupling the sleeves 31 to the drills rods 29 used in a rock drill comprises a support 11 for mounting on a shell 10 of the rock drill, members 25 movable on the support between adjacent and separated positions and formed with a socket 33 adapted, when the members are in the adjacent position, to receive a sleeve, and means 41 and 35, 36 for moving the members to the adjacent and separated positions respectively. The members 25 are pivotally mounted on a housing divided into two halves 13, 14 each pivoted on the support 11, the members being provided with bosses 27 in which the-socket 33 is formed. The two halves 13, 14 are urged together by a spring 21 so that when a sleeve 31 has been moved into the socket as shown in Fig. 6, the socket grips the sleeve and by then rotating the drill the latter is unscrewed from the sleeve. A lever 35 in the form of a foot pedal, is provided for opening the members 25 against the action of springs 41, so that the sleeve may pass through. In modifications the housing for the members 25 is formed as a complete ring and the springs 41 are replaced by rubber bushings and the inner face of the socket may be provided with teeth in order to increase the grip. |
