PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for controlling polymerization of (meth)acrylic acid and a (meth)acrylic acid ester, which reduces causes of stains of a production process, a purification process, a storage or transportation process of (meth)acrylic acid and/or a (meth)acrylic acid ester and discoloration of (meth)acrylic acid and a (meth)acrylic acid ester. SOLUTION: The method for controlling polymerization of (meth)acrylic acid and/or a (meth)acrylic acid ester comprises adding a phenoxazine compound or combination of (A) a phenoxazine compound and (B) one or more kinds selected from a phenol compound, a quinone compound, a copper salt compound, an N-oxyl compound, a nitrosophenylhydroxylamine or its salt in a production process, a purification process and a storage and transportation process of (meth)acrylic acid and/or a (meth)acrylic acid ester.
