PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer which makes a printing noise, but reduces the printing noise leaked from a printing medium discharge port and the like so as to reduce an unpleasant noise to an operator around the printer. SOLUTION: Wedge-shaped ribs are provided substantially in parallel with a platen inside a front upper cover. Alternatively, second wedge-shaped ribs are provided such that the ridges of the second ribs are positioned in the slit position of the first wedge-shaped ribs. In the other way, wedge-shaped ribs are provided in a front surface, a side surface, a top surface, and a bottom surface in a room 1. Further, there are provided, as needed, a head cover for guiding a printing noise made from a print head 1 in the direction of the wedge-shaped ribs, vibrating wedge-shaped ribs whose leading ends are vibrated in conjunction with a moving operation of a carriage, guidpaths for guiding a printing noise to both end sides of the printer, or printing noise guide ports at the ends of the guidepaths.
