PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a question answering system, a question answering processing method and a question answering program for presenting proper answer candidates under the consideration of relation among answer candidates. SOLUTION: A question answering system 100-1 is provided with a question deciding part 10 for extracting a retrieval word from a retrieval question sentence; a passage retrieving part 20 for acquiring a passage from a knowledge source 200 based on a retrieval word, an answer candidate extracting part 30 for extracting answer candidates from the passage, and for applying sources expressing the likelihood of the answer candidates; a relation extracting part 40 for acquiring relation rule information showing the relation of the answer candidates about the identity of things expressed by the answer candidates; an answer candidate connecting part 50 for generating an answer candidate group by connecting answer candidates expressing the same thing based on the relation rule information, and for totaling the scores applied to the answer candidates included in the answer candidate group; and an answer candidate selecting part 60 and an answer candidate presentation control part 70 for performing control to preferentially present the answer candidates included in the answer candidate group whose score is the largest.
