PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer of a sending side primary transfer nip type capable of reducing the occurrence of toner dirt on a recording paper sheet P while suppressing disturbance of superposed images in the second and succeeding recording paper sheet P in continuous printing out. SOLUTION: The printer is provided with: photoreceptors 2K, Y, M, C arranged along an area from a winding position around a drive roller 18 up to a position right before entering into a winding position around a driven stretched roller 17, and abutted on respective belt positions in the area to form a primary transfer nips; and a secondary transfer roller 20 abutted on the winding position of an intermediate transfer belt 16 around a drive roller 18 from the top surface side of the belt 15 to form a secondary transfer nip. A belt cleaning device is arranged so as to clean belt portions in the area from the winding position around the drive roller 18 up to the position right before entering into an abutting position on the photoreceptor 2K for K.
