PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a low-cost optical scanner in which the number of turning back mirrors is reduced, optical performance is improved, and easily assembled and adjusted despite of a compact scanning optical system, and to provide an image forming apparatus equipped with the optical scanner. SOLUTION: The optical scanner includes a light source, at least one optical deflector, one or more scanning lenses and a plurality of mirrors for emitting a plurality of scanning beams, wherein the plurality of scanning beams are turned back on the same reflecting face of at least one of the mirrors, and any one or more of the optical axes of the scanning lenses are arranged substantially parallely or substantially perpendicularly to the face scanned with the optical deflectors.
