PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing device designed so as to prevent a heat generating roller from firing even if a coil is supplied with power during the stop of the heat generating roller. SOLUTION: When the rotation of the heat generating roller 1 is stopped, a magnetic flux intercepting section 5, which intercepts the magnetic flux transmitted to the heat generating roller 1 from a magnetic flux generating body 3, is moved to the position where the heat generating roller 1 does not generate heat by the magnetic flux. On the other hand, when the heat generating roller 1 is rotated, the magnetic flux intercepting section 5 is moved to the position where the heat generating roller 1 generates heat. Therefore, even if a magnetic flux is generated from the magnetic flux generating body 3 as a result of supply of power to the magnetic flux generating body 3 during the stop of the rotation of the heat generating roller 1, the magnetic flux generating body 3 is prevented from generating heat, with the result that the heat generating roller 1 is prevented from smoking or firing.
