PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an on-vehicle radar capable of enhancing position detection precision to detect a person without being buried in deliniators in both sides, and capable of enhancing measuring precision of a moving speed. SOLUTION: This radar 1 includes a light projection element 14, a photoreception element 15, a lens 10 moving within a plane along a direction substantially perpendicular to an irradiation light 91, and a linear motor 11 for driving the lens 10. A specified range in a front side of the radar 1 is scanned by lateral moving 111 and vertical moving 112, because conditions of refraction of the light are different in positions of the lens. The light projection element 14 emits the pulse-like irradiation light 91 in every measuring area in the partitioned specified range, when scanned, and collects a received luminous energy voltage in the each measuring area, based on a returned light. A CPU 12 corrects received luminous energy in response to a distance from the center of the lens 10 and a differential value of the received luminous energy voltage, although a degree of aberration in a focal point gets larger along with the moving to an end in the light projection element 14, by the lateral moving 111.
