PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas lighter capable of surely extinguishing embers even when the embers exist as a fuel gas leaks out from an injection nozzle because of defective return in operation caused by clogging with dust of a nozzle movable portion after the use. SOLUTION: In this gas lighter wherein the fuel gas is injected from the injection nozzle 6 by operating an operation button 3, and the fuel gas is ignited by operating an ignition mechanism, a cover member 11 moving in conjunction with the operation button 3, is disposed. The cover member 11 is provided with an extinguishing mechanism placed at a position to inhibit the injection of gas on the injection nozzle 6 when the operation button 3 is not operated, and moved to a position to release the injection of the fuel gas, when the operation button 3 is operated.
