PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an underpants-type absorbent article, which prevents breakage during wearing and has a good-looking and not protruding side seal part. SOLUTION: The underpants-type absorbent article includes an absorbent body 5 including an absorbent core 4 and a cover material 10 having an developed contour of hourglass shape and substantially vertically long shap. The absorbent body 5 is arranged at the center part in the width direction of the cover material 10, which has a ventral part A, a dorsal part B, and a crotch part C between the ventral and dorsal parts. A pair of right and left sides of the ventral part A in the cover material 10 and a pair of right and left of the dorsal part B in the cover material 10 are overlapped and sealed, where a pair of side seal parts 14, 14 are formed. Each of the side seal parts 14, 14 includes seal parts extending from the side edge of the ventral part A to a part of the dorsal part B in the cover material 10, or a seal parts extending from the side edge of the dorsal part B to a part of the ventral part A in the cover material 10.
