EGYPTIAN STRAIN OF ENTOMOPATHOGENIC FUNGUS BEAUVERIA BASSIANA

摘要

AGI strain of entomopathogenic fungus B . bassiana was isolated from cadaver of adult stage of red palm weevil Rhychophorus ferrugineus . The red palm weevil is destructive insect and it causes serious damage to date palms in Egypt . Recently , the weevil has spread widely and now is the most economically important pest of the date palm in Egypt . The biocontrol means by using entomopathogenic fungi is more needed to control such this insect .All stages of red palm weevil appeared highly susceptibility to AGI fungal strain . The fungal strain appeared highly pathogenicty , viability and sporulation compared with other 44 tested other strains of fungs B . bassiana . Genetic description of fungal strain was conducted . Field application of this fungal strain in large scale proved highly control to red palm weevil .
