<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle communication system, a radio communication device and a vehicle communication method capable of suppressing power consumption of a communication device installed on the road side, by performing radio communication with a vehicle passing a prescribed region on the road corresponding to entrance into/retreat from the region of the vehicle. <P>SOLUTION: The vehicle communication system, equipped with the radio communication device 3 for transmitting/receiving information to/from a vehicle traveling along the road, is equipped with a far-infrared sensor 33 for detecting a far-infrared ray emitted from the vehicle entering the prescribed region, and a communication control device for controlling the start/stoppage of the radio communication device 3, based on the far-infrared ray detected by the far-infrared sensor 33. The communication control device determines whether the vehicle has entered a domain communicable by the radio communication device 3, and starts the radio communication device 3, when determined that the vehicle has entered the communicable region. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
