PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a video capture apparatus capable of capturing image data of a desired scene of video data recorded on an optical disk, converting the captured image data to have a desired image size so as to prevent the image data from being processed and outputting the resulting data to an external device. SOLUTION: When receiving a command of capturing image data of one scene of the video data during reproduction of an optical disk, the video capture apparatus temporarily stops the reproduction of the optical disk, displays a thumbnail image selection menu of a prescribed number of image data before and after a point of time when the capturing of the image data is commanded, selects thumbnail image data on the displayed image selection menu, displays an output image size selection menu of the selected thumbnail image data, selects an image size on the displayed output image size selection menu, converts the size of the selected thumbnail image data into the selected image size, prevents the image data from being processed, and outputs the resulting image data whose image size is converted to the external device.
