PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical pickup device that can be made compact and thin, and an optical disk device. SOLUTION: The optical pickup device comprises: a magnetic field forming part configured by two sets of pairs of magnets arranged side by side opposedly on a Y axis of a base in a prescribed interval to drive an objective lens in the direction of the optical axis (Z axis) of a lens and in the radial (X axis) direction of an optical disk; a lens holder having coil mounting parts at both sides of the objective lens so as to locate each of the coil mounting parts between the pairs of magnets, wherein the objective lens is attached to the center part of the lens holder; and a driving part having a first coil wound around the Z axis and a second coil wound around the X axis (or Y axis), wherein the coils are aligned on the Y axis and fixed to the lens holder so as to be located between the pairs of magnets. The lens holder to which the first and second coils are fixed is movably supported within a magnetic field formed by the sets of the pairs of the magnets. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
