PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of inexpensively forming images of good quality even on a thermally deformed web and various webs differing in width without any image defect. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes a transfer means of transferring a toner image formed on a photoreceptor surface to a recording medium, a conveying means for conveying the recording medium to between the photoreceptor and transfer means and conveying a recording medium having passed through the transfer means to a following stage, guide means provided upstream and downstream of the transfer means in the conveying direction of the recording medium and guiding the photoreceptor surface in contact or apart, and a pressing means for pressing the recording medium against the photoreceptor.
