PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coating agent for metals, having excellent water-dispersion stability over a long period, capable of forming a coating film having excellent corrosion resistance, acid resistance and solvent resistance on the surface of a metal and having excellent adhesiveness to metals. SOLUTION: The coating agent for metals contains an aqueous medium and a cationic polyurethane resin (B) containing a specific structure unit (A) in the molecule and dispersed in the aqueous medium.
