<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a cost increase due to unnecessary component replacement. <P>SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus 2 includes a photoreceptor drum 10, a developing unit 14 mounted on an apparatus main body 4 to move approaching and leaving the photoreceptor drum 10 along guide surfaces 6A and 8A arranged in the apparatus main body 4, and a protective cover 30 which opens and closes a portion of a peripheral surface of the photoreceptor drum 10. The protective cover 30 is supported by the apparatus main body 4 to rotate between a closing position and an opening position. In the apparatus main body 4, an arm member 70 is rotatably arranged which is coupled to drive the protective cover 30 and can open and close the protective cover 30.
